Joe Parker is the kind of guy you gravitate to.  He and his wife Dolly (on the left) are traveling the waterways aboard Gypsy.  When they get to town, well, they get to town!  Within about 15 minutes, they discover every festival in a hundred miles. They get names, new friends and rides to everything.  (Helps to get rides when your on the boat.) The secret is that they are great people AND they go to the American Legion.

I never thought of it. When you go to the American Legion, you meet the locals in no time flat.  And since you are a fellow comrade, they are all too happy to help you.
